Gray’s on the hook and Xelly comes in melodic and then switches his flow up halfway through. They’re doing some DMV meets Zaytoven type shit with patient piano chords and runs over deep 808s.

“Xan High” more melodic with both of them hitting more meloedies in the vocals over a slow beat, “SRT” beat absolutely crazy with Xelly’s most memorable line, “He don’t got no work, he got manual labor!!” My other favorite might be “Tony Tony” with Sparkheem and Johnny Caravaggio on the beat. He said, “Pop out on niggas, this shit like a comic/ Pop Percocet-30’s ’til I need to vomit/ That nigga got dipped, now he layin’ in vomit/ Slurpin’ that pussy like eatin’ some ramen!” Fucking kills it, later he goes, “Like I’m locked in a cell, I’ll be here for a minute/ Stay with the green, I been eating my spinach/ Smoking on cookie, it taste like Thin Mint.” but niggas gon overlook it 😩😭 Lil Xelly takes the hook and Gray comes in and completely slaughters his verse. The melody sound like an updated version of those snap beats those Atlanta niggas use to swag surf over only this time the shit’s trapped out. Spizzle, Yoyo and Sparkheem really went bananas on the beat with the kicks bumping at the right speed, hitting all the right head nods. With lines like, “It’s a mystery/ Four-four on me, Pistol Pete/ I’m a winner, see? You wanna come get with me/ Sellin’ J’s, my G’s is cheap//My niggas take your Jesus piece/Two-tone hoes like Reeses Piece/We beat the pot, don’t need degrees!!” How could you not give my nigga his props? They switch it over to Xrr seamlessly for the second verse no breaths no skips and it sounds effortless. He said, “Shopping, copped the whole department/ ‘Cause I was broke, bitch, I was starving/ Broke one in your home, one in your dome, blood on the carpet!” It makes you wanna memorize the whole thing. You have Gray on the hook opening the song up with a tight and steady flow over some thudding kicks and a sweet, plinky melody that sound like some church bells or a somber lullaby. The tape starts off with “Blood On The Carpet” which is a great example of how this whole tape go. Xelly and Gray’s knack for songwriting leaves you with plenty of memorable lines and choruses along with beats fulla dat crank. This project emphasizes Xelly’s extravagant wordplay but doesn’t hit you over the head with bar after bar for no reason. Both artists bring out the best in each other, switching up between lead and anchor busting out the rapid fire flows and holding it down over the DMV’s finest producers- Sparkheem, Mannyvelli, Spizzle, and others. It’s rare you see Xelly hype up a feature enough to include it as part of his official catalog, but this project does just what a collab album should do.
I hadn’t heard of Lil Gray too much before this project to be honest, but after hearing the two of them go back and forth I can see now why this project had to happen.
I’m excited to talk about this project though, because it really stands out in Xelly’s discography. So many times I wanted to do a write-up of Xelly but for one reason or another I couldn’t pull through. He’s said it himself though, so the hard work don’t stop. With the razor sharp flow and punchlines alone our boy shoulda been outta here, but the fact that he can body literally any style should’ve opened niggas eyes to his talent. My only problem is that niggas keep sleeping as if he’s not one of the hardest in the game rn. We got to see our boy featured on The Fader, premiere vids with some of the GOATS in the game ( Black Kray, Gleesh…), drop a solo album that arguably ranks as one of the best DMV albums to come out, and continue dropping classic tape after tape. This year been a real good year for big Xrr. When you’re bumping Xelly, you’re gonna get rushed with line after line of clever wordplay, heavy inflections, and energetic ad-libs (how u spell it when he goes oooooouuuuuuuuuaaaaaagh!! 😂). But it’s the variety, tight flows, raw talent and aggression that keep niggas coming back for more. He drop so much music that he’s had to delete tracks off his Soundcloud just to make space for more. Everybody who know Xelly know this nigga is the king of dropping tape after tape. It’s been a little over a year since I started bumping Xelly and already I feel like it’s been a lifetime.
